Bozeman top seed, PSJ second, at districts

Of the six teams taking part in this week’s District 4 Region 1 baseball tournament at Vernon, only one area team, Wewahitchka, will be playing in the opening round April 29.

The fifth-seeded Gators (6-19) will be squaring off against the fourth-seeded Vernon Yellowjackets (8-10) in Vernon.

The top-seeded Bozeman Bucks (22-3) drew an automatic bye. Since the Crossroads team opted out of participating in the district tournament, the third-seeded Franklin County Seahawks (11-11) were left without an opponent and so had a bye.

The second-seeded Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks (18-5) also received a bye, as there was no one else to play in the six-team field.

On Tuesday, Franklin County and Port St. Joe were set to square off in Vernon beginning at 5 p.m. CT, with the nightcap a contest between Bozeman and the winner of the Vernon-Wewa game.

On Thursday, the two winners from Tuesday will square off at 6:30 p.m. CT, with the higher ranked team as home.
