Parham named to MTSU summer 2023 dean’s list

MURFREESBORO, TENN. — Newbern Parham of Port St Joe, FL, is among 300 Middle Tennessee State University undergraduate students included on the latest dean’s list for their academic achievements for the summer 2023 semester. Parham is majoring in Accounting.

To qualify for the dean’s list, an undergraduate student must maintain a current semester grade-point average of at least 3.5 and have earned at least 12 semester hours.

Founded in 1911 as one of three state normal schools for teacher training, Middle Tennessee State University is one of the oldest and largest undergraduate universities in the state of Tennessee.





Meet the Editor

Wendy Weitzel, The Star’s digital editor, joined the news outlet in August 2021, as a reporter covering primarily Gulf County.

Prior to then, she interned for Oklahoma-based news wire service Gaylord News and for Oklahoma City-based online newspaper NonDoc.com during her four years at the University of Oklahoma, from which she graduated in May with degrees in online journalism and political science.

While at OU, Weitzel was selected as Carnegie-Knight News21 Investigative Fellow among 30 top journalism students from around the country. She also was senior editor managing a 12-person newsroom in coordination with Oklahoma Watch, a non-profit news organization in eastern Oklahoma.
