Shealy earns Dean’s List recognition at Valdosta State University
Rebecca Shealy, of Wewahitchka, earned a spot on the Spring 2023 Dean’s List at Valdosta State University.
Dean’s List honors are reserved for the highest achieving students at VSU. Shealy is one of more than 1,600 distinguished and accomplished students recognized for exemplifying excellence in the attainment of their educational goals.
To qualify for the Dean’s List at VSU, students must achieve a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher on nine or more semester hours with an institutional grade point average of 3.00 or higher. Please note that developmental studies, transient, and graduate students are not eligible for Dean’s List status.
Meet the Editor
Wendy Weitzel, The Star’s digital editor, joined the news outlet in August 2021, as a reporter covering primarily Gulf County.
Prior to then, she interned for Oklahoma-based news wire service Gaylord News and for Oklahoma City-based online newspaper NonDoc.com during her four years at the University of Oklahoma, from which she graduated in May with degrees in online journalism and political science.
While at OU, Weitzel was selected as Carnegie-Knight News21 Investigative Fellow among 30 top journalism students from around the country. She also was senior editor managing a 12-person newsroom in coordination with Oklahoma Watch, a non-profit news organization in eastern Oklahoma.
