Sheriff’s Office, Police Department warn of fake serial killer posts

Both the Gulf County Sheriff’s Office and the Port St. Joe Police Department have issued public statements warning against what they say is false information circulating on social media regarding the presence of a serial killer in Port St. Joe.

The rumor originated with posts made in local Facebook groups claiming the existence of a serial killer in the area.

Identical posts have been made for communities across the country over the past several days.
