Wyatt named editor-in-chief of Neves publications

Carol Kent Wyatt has been named the editor-in-chief of four community newspapers owned by Neves Media Publishing.

Wyatt reprised the role of editor of the Washington County News and Holmes County Advertiser, a position she held from 2014 to 2018, when the two weeklys were purchased by Neves in February 2021.

Her promotion was announced Thursday by Neves Media Publishing’s Owner, Todd Neves.

Wyatt has done a terrific job localizing the news content in Holmes and Washington Counties, and we are excited about the energy and management skills that she will bring as she leads our team of editors across all of our publications and news websites,” said Neves.

While Wyatt will continue to serve as editor of the Washington and Holmes County newspapers, she will also oversee the overall operations of four of Neves’ multimedia news outlets in her new role.

Wyatt, who has more than two decades of experience leading a newsroom, is recognized as an accomplished writer and reporter. She is currently nominated for four 2022 Florida Press Association awards – in general excellence of a newspaper, in-depth reporting, local government reporting, and roads and transportation reporting.

Along with the News and Advertiser, she will be working closely with the editors of the Apalachicola Times and the Port St. Joe Star to help facilitate the company’s overall goal to deliver timely and accurate local reporting.

“I am excited about this new role, as well as the opportunity to get to know the Gulf and Franklin County communities,” Wyatt said. “I look forward to continuing to work with editors David Adlerstein and Wendy Weitzel to deliver timely, locally-focused news and relevant information across all our media platforms.”
