Gulf District Schools finalize 2022-23 academic calendar
The Gulf District Schools School Board finalized the calendar for the 2022-23 academic year at their April 4 meeting.
The first day of school will be August 10, and the last day of school will be May 26.
Fall break will be October 17 and 18, Thanksgiving break will be November 21 through 25, winter break will be December 19 through January 2, Spring break will be March 13 through 17 and Easter break will be April 7 through 10.
Students will be off on Labor Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day and President’s Day.

Wendy Weitzel, The Star’s digital editor, joined the news outlet in August 2021, as a reporter covering primarily Gulf County.
Prior to then, she interned for Oklahoma-based news wire service Gaylord News and for Oklahoma City-based online newspaper NonDoc.com during her four years at the University of Oklahoma, from which she graduated in May with degrees in online journalism and political science.
While at OU, Weitzel was selected as Carnegie-Knight News21 Investigative Fellow among 30 top journalism students from around the country. She also was senior editor managing a 12-person newsroom in coordination with Oklahoma Watch, a non-profit news organization in eastern Oklahoma.
