Mrs.
Shirley C. Ramsey, 69, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning, July 20,
2021 at her Port St. Joe home, surrounded by her loving family.
Shirley was born on June 30, 1952 in Bainbridge, Georgia and relocated to her
forever hometown of Port St. Joe at an early age. She was a 1970 graduate of Port
St. Joe High School. Shirley attended Gulf Coast Community College and the
University of West Florida.
She
was the co-owner of Ramsey’s Printing and Office Products and One Way Fitness
Center, and for many years of The Star newspaper.
She
was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Port St. Joe. Shirley did a
lifetime of service for her church, community and especially her family.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Elizabeth Cantley and
brothers, Robert F. Cantley Jr. and Jerry Cantley.
She
leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 49 years, William H. Ramsey “Willie;”
sons, William H. Ramsey Jr. “Bill” (wife Maria), and Eric Ramsey “Bird” (wife
Missy); six grandchildren, Kayla Brown (Justin), MaKayla Smith (Tucker),
Chipper Wood, William H. Ramsey III “Willbo,” MaLena Ramsey and Erica Ramsey;
two great-grandchildren, Hinson Brown and Cooper Smith; brother and sisters-in-law,
Ray Ramsey, Catherine Barfield (Jobie), Shelly Oliver (Tommy), Alford Ramsey
(Laura), Carol Horton (David), and Ruth Cantley; and a host of nieces and
nephews. She also leaves very fond memories in the hearts of her “bonus”
children, teammates of her kids and grandkids, and countless Sunday School
children.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. EST, Friday morning, July 30 at
Long Avenue Baptist Church of Port St. Joe, followed by a time of
fellowship and visitation with family in the LABC Fellowship Hall. The service
will be live streamed through the Long Avenue Baptist Church Facebook page.
