The Gulf County Tourist Development Council is hosting a first-of-its-kind song contest to promote Gulf County tourism.

The contest, which opens August 1, is free and open to the first 50 submissions. The song chosen will be featured in the county’s 2023 tourism marketing campaign.

“We are looking for a song to connect our locals and visitors,” said the TDC on a webpage designed for the contest, “something that everyone who loves Gulf County can rally around – an anthem for how we live and interact with our waters, community, and nature.”

There are no requirements for genre or length, but the TDC did list criteria to ensure submitted songs follow Gulf County brand standards.

Content must reflect the Gulf County TDC brand standards and story, which is described in more detail in the terms and conditions listed on the TDC website. The content cannot promote any activities that may appear unsafe or dangerous, and it cannot be obscene or offensive or endorse any form of hate or hate group.

The Gulf County TDC reserves the right to disqualify any Submission (or portion thereof) for any reason, in its sole and absolute discretion, including its determination in their sole discretion that a submission fails to satisfy any of the above requirements

“Please submit a fully recorded song, and your lyrics,” the TDC asked. “The winner or winners will have an opportunity to perform the song at Blast on the Bay Songwriters Festival in October, and the TDC will produce a full length Music Video and a 30 second spot for media buys.”
