Boys basketball looks to improve upon last year’s record

Posted

Port St. Joe boys basketball coach Toney Powell is “excited about this year, because the guys are older and playing at the right level.”

Powell and the Tiger Sharks hope that “playing at the right level” will allow an improvement from last season’s 5-15 record.

Five seniors head up an experienced lineup, led by LaJuan Zaccaro, Jr. and Jay Stuckey. PJ Jones, Jarred Martin, and Kellen Speights round out the senior class.

The junior class is well represented by TJ Jenkins, Mario “Mikhai” Larry, Colton Miles, Will Burris, and Mark Clayton.

Sophomores Jamarrien “JD” Becton and Chance Gainer, joined by freshman Eli Harris and eighth grader Zay Jenkins complete the St. Joe varsity squad.

Unfortunately, the first outing against Jefferson County on Saturday, December 3, ended with the Sharks losing by seven points.

Powell and his squad will seek the first win of the season on Friday, December 9, at Bozeman.
