John “Wayne” Wimberly, age 70, of Wewahitchka, FL, passed away on September 6th, 2024. He was born on October 29,1953, in Port St. Joe, FL. He is survived by his children, Kimberly Hauser, Jaclyn Smitherman (Shane), Cammi Wimberly-Compston, Andrea Wimberly, and April Wimberly Childers (Chelsey). Grandchildren, T.J. Hauser, John, James, and Madison Smitherman, Julia Moreno, Kaleb and Josiah Thomas, Ava Wimberly, and Henley and Mason Childers. Siblings Mike Wimberly (Karen), Anita Brown (Jack), Charles Wimberly (Carey) and Andy Wimberly (Debra) and numerous nieces and nephews. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents J.Y. and Deloris Wimberly and his daughter Jessica Bishop.

Wayne was a true outdoorsman and loved to fish, hunt, and ride his golf cart in the wilderness to be closer to nature. He was a commercial shrimper for over 35 years. Wayne is best known as “The Shrimp Man” of Gulf County. He loved to tell stories and if you had the time, he could spin a “tall tale” all day long. Wayne’s wit and southern slang will be missed by all who knew and loved him. 

A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to White City Baptist Church, White City Assembly of God or a Charity of your choice.
