Jimmy Barfield, 91, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2024. Jimmy was born in Blountstown on December 30, 1932, to E.M. (Em) and Ruby Mae Barfield.

He lived much of his life in Gulf County, where he worked for and retired from the St Joe Paper Company. Jimmy had a strong faith and was a deacon at Beach Baptist Chapel in St Joe Beach for years before moving to Marianna and joining Faith Baptist Church. He enjoyed vacations in the mountains but most of all, he loved his family. It was said of Jimmy, if you met him, you liked him, if you knew him, you loved him.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his two sons, Jimmy Dozier and Wayne Dozier. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Edna Barfield; daughter, Regina Nickison (Diane) of Lexington, SC; Rhonda Harrell of Marianna, FL, Deborah Fontaine of Lexington, SC, Franklin Faircloth (Glenda) of Blountstown; grandchildren, Cheston Nickison, Joshua Nickison, Jessica Johnson, Chance Walton; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Services were held Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at the Peavy Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation began at 10:00 AM with the funeral service starting at 11:00 AM. Interment followed at Pine Memorial Cemetery in Blountstown. All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown, FL.
