Clyde Edward “Eddie” Summers, 68, of Port St. Joe, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 17, 2024.

Eddie was born on August 2, 1955 in Bristol. He graduated from Port St. Joe High School in 1974. Eddie excelled at playing Football and Baseball and from an early age, developed a life-long love of sports. He married his wife, Cindy in 1979 and raised their two girls in Port St. Joe. Eddie was employed for many years at Basic Magnesium and Box USA before their closures, and finished his career as a Field Appraiser for the Gulf County Property Appraiser’s Office. He had many interests and passions, including deer hunting, photography, growing flowers and motorcycle riding. Eddie was an animal-lover and enjoyed having pets of all types, with many remembering fondly his flock of pet ducks. Some of the most memorable moments in Eddie’s life were traveling the country by motorcycle with the love of his life, Cindy. He was a confident person who loved to mentor and share his insight with everyone he met. Eddie loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. His family adored him and his absence will be felt deeply by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Reatha “Bill” Summers; and brother, Ricky Summers.

Left to treasure his memory is his wife of 45 years, Cindy Summers; daughters, Angela “Niki” Moore (Tom) and Jessica Summers Shirvan (Kash); grandchildren, Mary Pollock (Raul Letona), Gabriel Stephan, Mila Abeyta, Maggie Moore and Liam Moore; great-granddaughter, Paisley Stephan; brother, Greg Summers (Pam); many aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved dog Chico.

A funeral service will take place on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. EST at Long Avenue Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Cemetery.
