Billy Milton Johnson Sr., a beloved member of the community, passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at his daughter’s home in Panama City Beach, Florida. Born on February 28, 1938, in Panama City, Florida, Billy lived a life rich in faith, service, and dedication to his family and community.

For 42 years, Billy worked diligently at the St. Joe papermill as a store room clerk. In addition to his primary career, he engaged in pulp wood and pressure washing, always seeking to provide for his loved ones.

A devout Christian, Billy’s love for Jesus was evident in everything he did. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Port St. Joe, Florida, where he found great joy in serving others, particularly through disaster relief teams. His passion for helping those in need left a lasting impact on many lives in the community, reflecting his deep compassion and unwavering faith.

Billy was also a published Christian poet, a proud accomplishment that showcased his creativity and deep connection to his faith. He cherished the written word and used it as a medium to express his beliefs and insights.

He is survived by his children, Billy M. Johnson Jr. of Howard Creek, Florida, Kelly Johnson Parish (Jim) of Panama City Beach, Florida, Thomas Earl Johnson (Anne) of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and James Anton Johnson (Tish) of Panama City, Florida. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Billy (Heather), Michael (Codi), Kellie-Anne, Destiny, Lathan, Kaysen, Kyntlee, and Sabrina (Darren); and great-grandchildren, Jackson, Wyatt, Sydney and Gavin.

Billy was preceded in death by his father, William Johnson; stepfather, C.W. Long; mother, Flora Herring Johnson Long; and grandson, Connor Johnson. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him, leaving a lasting imprint of love and kindness in their hearts.
