Broadband workshop to be held July 7
The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity’s Office of Broadband will be holding a public workshop to hear directly from locals about barriers to accessing broadband internet service.
At the meeting, which will be held Friday, July 7 at the Gulf Coast State College Gulf/Franklin Campus’s computer lab from 2:30 to 4 p.m. EDT, members of the public will be invited to share their experiences, concerns and ideas.
“We will be discussing Florida’s goal to ensure all Florida communities can easily access internet service, online devices and digital skills training,” said a press release about the meeting.
Three virtual workshops will also be held — on July 14 at 10:30 a.m. EDT, on July 24 at 2 p.m. EDT and on July 26 at 2 p.m. EDT. Go to floridajobs.org for more information.
These sessions will help inform on Florida’;s Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment Five-Year Action Plan and Digital Adoption and Use Plan.

David Adlerstein, The Apalachicola Times’ digital editor, started with the news outlet in January 2002 as a reporter.
Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.
In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
