Lady Tiger Sharks look to get back in their groove after Alabama tournament
After going 1-2 at the Geneva Invitational in Geneva, Alabama, this past weekend, Port St. Joe softball coach Lissa Walker said that her Lady Tiger Sharks “were sluggish and looked like we were out of sync from not playing since last Friday.”
Now 5-4 on the season, St. Joe started the tournament with a 7-1 loss to host (4-0) Geneva, a 4A school, before bouncing back to defeat 5A Carroll High School (Ozark, Alabama) 9-1. Carroll is now 9-11.
In their final game on Saturday, the Shark “9” lost to 7A Dothan High School 4-1. The Wolves own a 14-7 season record.
Walker anticipated that this week’s practices would allow her players to get over the “Spring Break hangover” and recover their edge, since they will be playing at district rival Franklin County (6-4) on Thursday, March 23.
The following night, the Tiger Sharks will be traveling to Quincy to take on the 1-5 Munroe Bobcats. The next home contest will be against Wewahitchka on Monday, March 27.
