Single vehicle accident in Beacon Hill results in fatality

An 85 year-old Port St. Joe man was killed in a single vehicle accident near U.S. 98 and Cowries Street in Beacon Hill on Friday at around 12:37 p.m. EST.

According to a release from the Florida Highway Patrol, the vehicle swerved off the road and collided with the steps of a home after the driver suffered what investigators believe was a medical emergency.

The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.



Gulf County Sheriff’s Department deputies were on the scene assisting FHP. The FHP Traffic Hommicide Team arrived on scene and will be conducting an investigation.

U.S. 98 is currently open to traffic.

Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts.
