Dermatology Specialists welcomes Stubbs to Port St. Joe

As soon as Jason Stubbs came down to Port St. Joe to interview for the open position at Dermatology Specialists of Florida, he knew this was the move he wanted to make.

“You know, I had my preferences for location and all those different things,” Stubbs said. “I’d never been here until I got the interview to come down, and I almost had to go back home by myself, because my wife and kids just absolutely loved it – small town, near the water, all the things my wife and I wanted.”

He packed up and moved down in February.

Now, Stubbs, a certified dermatology physician assistant, is the only of Dermatology Specialists’ providers who is dedicated exclusively to the community.

Stubbs is originally from Arkansas and was working in Fort Benning, Georgia before moving to Gulf County. He earned his master of science in physician assistant studies from the Interservice Physician Assistant Program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

His experience includes over 8 years of dedicated service as a firefighter and EMT, coupled with his continued active service in the Arkansas Army National Guard since 2008.

Moving to Port St. Joe, he said, has been like returning to his roots.

“Where I’m from is really small, and I’ve had to live in all these really populated places, and it really just burns you out,” he said. “I was ready to get back to something a little more slow paced.”

Stubbs said he’s noticed a large need for medical professionals in the community since arriving, and the demand for his services is high.

Many of his patients had been driving to Panama City or Tallahassee to receive services prior to his arrival.

“There’s a big demand for dermatology here,” he said. “Since having been here, I’m constantly having to open up my schedule more and more just to meet the demand that’s there. I’ve booked out a month.”

“There’s so much potential in the sense that what I’m able to do here is really only limited by my comfort level, which is growing quickly,” he continued. “I’m excited to do all I can do for the people who are here.”

Dermatology Specialists’ Port St. Joe Office is located in the complex at 212 W. Hwy 98, Suite B, next to the Taco Bell. To schedule an appointment with Stubbs, visit the center’s website at https://healow.com/apps/provider/jason-stubbs-2605643 or call 877-231-3376.
