Enjoy a night of Designer Purse Bingo

On. Jan. 14, the GFWC Wewahitchka Woman’s Club held its regular meeting with two special guest speakers. We were honored to welcome our club’s Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) award nominee, Annabelle Whitfield, and Gulf Count Property Appraiser, Mitch Burke.

Whitfield read her winning HOBY essay entry, showcasing the leadership and vision that earned her this nomination. For over 20 years, our club has proudly sponsored Wewahitchka High School sophomores to attend the HOBY Leadership Seminar in Tallahassee, whose mission is to inspire and develop youth to embrace leadership, service, and innovation. We hope Annabelle enjoys this transformative seminar and returns with the tools, knowledge, and passion to make a positive impact on her community and beyond.

Burke provided an insightful presentation about property taxes, including how they are calculated and what to do when you move. We appreciate his time and expertise in helping us better understand these important topics.

As we approach February, the woman’s club is gearing up for several exciting events and initiatives:

Women’s Heart Health Month in February is dedicated to raising awareness about the risks of heart disease and strokes which are the leading causes of death among American women. Women are encouraged to recognize symptoms, understand their risk factors, adopt healthier lifestyles, and seek regular medical care. Together, we can reduce the impact of heart disease in our community.

Starting Feb. 4, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program will be available at the Wewahitchka Public Library every Tuesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. CT through April. This program offers free tax preparation and e-filing by IRS-certified volunteer tax preparers. Greeters will also be present to assist visitors. Appointments can be made online at http:www.bit.ly/RealSenseTaxes or by calling 850-227-8737. Don’t miss this opportunity for stress-free, professional tax help!

Get ready for an evening of fun and excitement at our Designer Purse Bingo on Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Honeyville Community Center. Doors open at 5 p.m. This event is generously sponsored by Waves & Woods Realty and Fisher’s Building Supply.

In addition to the regular games, we’re excited to announce a special bingo game for those who donate diapers or baby wipes. Every donation will earn you a bingo card to play in this exclusive round, helping us support North Florida Child Development while enjoying an evening of fun.

Sponsor tables, general admission, and reserved tables are still available, but tickets must be purchased in advance. No tickets will be sold at the door. Secure your spot now for an unforgettable evening filled with prizes and community spirit!

For more information about these events or to get involved, please reach out to the GFWC Wewahitchka Woman’s Club. We look forward to seeing you there and continuing to make a difference in our community together!
