Forgotten Coast Festival of the Trees
Now — Saturday, Dec. 14
Check out decorated trees from organizations around the community at this year’s Forgotten Coast Festival of the Trees at the Joe Center for the Arts in Port St. Joe. Visitors will be able to vote for their favorite tree display. The center is open Wednesday through Saturday and the festival will feature Santa sightings, arts, crafts, music, and more.

Christmas in the Garden
Saturday, Dec. 7, 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. ET
Join the Port St. Joe Garden Club at their headquarters, located at 216 Eighth Street, Port St. Joe, for their Christmas in the Garden celebration. This event will feature crafts, ornaments, baked goods, plants, wreaths, live greens, and auction baskets.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas Party
Thursday, Dec. 12, 3:30 p.m. CT
Stop by the Wewahitchka – Charles Whitehead Public Library and enjoy a free reading of How the Grinch Stole Christmas! along with ornament crafting, and snacks. This event is presented by Anitra Mayhann with UF/IFAS and Gulf County 4H. Program geared for school aged children.
Christmas on the Coast Parade
Saturday, Dec. 14, 6 p.m. ETThe annual Christmas on the Coast Parade, hosted by the City of Port St. Joe – City Hall and Gulf County Chamber of Commerce, will start out with judging of the floats, at 5 p.m. ET, with categories: Schools and Non-Profit, Family and Friends, Business, and Faith-Based. Meet the Editor
David Adlerstein, The Apalachicola Times’ digital editor, started with the news outlet in January 2002 as a reporter.
Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.
In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
