Friddle, Williams pace local runners at districts

With Pensacola Christian Academy dominating both the boys and girls fields, Port St. Joe High School hosted the district cross country tournament at St. Joseph Bay golf course Oct. 28.

Lady Tiger Shark phenom seventh grader Lorelai Williams posted a time of 20:25 to finish seventh for the girls, while Seahawk senior Josiah Friddle ran a season best 18:19.90 to finish 11th in the boys field. He was followed close behind by Port St. Joe eighth grader Jude Fosshage, who ran an 18:21.40.

For the girls, Lady Tiger Shark sophomore Molly Partin was 23rd, with a time of 23:40.90, with junior Katie Trochessett’s 24:40 good enough for 33rd. She finished about two seconds ahead of teammate freshman Kate Patrick, who ran a 24:41.50.



In 56th place, with a time of 27:05.50 was freshman Libby White, a little more than a minute faster than teammate junior Farrah Spring, who was 60th with a time of 28:18.80 Just behind her, finishing 61st, was Lady Seahawk sophomore Addyson Paul, with a time of 28:20.10.

In 66th place was Wewahitchka seventh grader Hailey Morrison, who ran a 29:09.80.

In 75th place was Wewaa freshman Graci Brock, who ran a 30:59.10. In 77th place was Lady Seahawk freshman Baileigh Dasher, with a time of 31:11.40.

Two places behind her was Wewa freshman Madi Brock, who finished in 31:22.00. Her teammate seventh grader Hailey Morrison sophomore Kyleigh Catrett in 97th place with a 36:12.80, just ahead of teammate seventh grader Karmen Pippin, who posted a 36:20 time.

In 99th place was Lady Tiger Shark seventh grader Eleanor Shoaf, who ran 36:20.90, just ahead of teammate seventh grader Amelia Weems, who ran a 36:21.60.

Wewa eighth grader Valerie Shiver ran a 39:02.90 time to finish 106th.

Among the boys, Port St. Joe eighth grader Chase Ford was 20th with a time of 18:50.00, with teammate sophomore Preston Beckwith running a 19:45.60 to finish 32nd.

Wewa junior Tyler Johnson posted a 21:16.30 time to end up in 63rd place, just ahead of teammate eighty grader Lucas Wreath who was 65th.

In 68th place was Tiger Shark sophomore Dane Fosshage, with a time of 21:30.00. Teammate Jerome Williams, a seventh grader ran a 22:55.40 for 80th place. 

In 82nd place was Wewa junior Bryce Ethridge, with a time of 22:59.00, just ahead of teammates sixth grader Gunner Gaskin, with a 23:00.90 and eighth grader Carter Holcombe, who ran a 23:05.20.

In 94th place was Port St. Joe sophomore Rhys Bennefield, with a time of 23:41.30, ahead of teammate seventh grader Jordan Dailey, whose 24:28.70 put him at 105th.

Wewa eighth grader Lucas Hedgewood ran a 25:12.70 to finish 112th, ahead of teammate eighth grader Conner Olsen, with a time of 26:39.80 for 119th place.

Tiger Shark seventh grader Spencer Cribbs ran a 26:40.90 for 120th, just ahead of teammate seventh grader Miller Calderon, whose 26:55.20 was good for 123rd.

Wewa junior Christian Johnson ran a 28:40.30 for 136th, and Wewa seventh grader Gunner Brock a 29:43.20 for 140th, just ahead of teammate seventh grader Colton Harrell, who posted a 31:59.90.

Port St. Joe seventh grader Stellan Sundlof ran a 38:18.90 to finish 145th.



Meet the Editor

David Adlerstein, The Apalachicola Times’ digital editor, started with the news outlet in January 2002 as a reporter.

Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.

In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
