Jay shuts out Wewa 41-0

The Jay Royals scored 41 points and limited the visiting Wewahitchka Gators to none in the Royals league triumph on Friday.

Jay amassed 307 total yards, 223 of them on the ground, led by sophomore Jaymes Youngblood, who carried the ball 21 times for 110 yards and three touchdowns.

The Royals now hold a 8-1 record and take the field next when they travel to Blacksher for a non-league test on Friday. Jay will meet a 7-2 Bulldogs squad coming off a 34-0 league win over Bayshore Christian out of Fairhope, Alabama. The Bulldogs record now stands at 7-2.



With the defeat, Wewahitchka drops to 2-7 on the season. The Gators host Milton Central to meet the Jaguars in a Rural test on Friday. The Jaguars come into the test with a record of 0-7. Central lost 30-22 in their recent non-league test against Lighthouse Private Christian Academy out of Pensacola.

David Adlerstein, The Apalachicola Times’ digital editor, started with the news outlet in January 2002 as a reporter.

Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.

In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
