Sign up now for Nov. 16-17 JSL pickleball tourney
The Junior Service League of Port St. Joe is looking for participants in its first-ever Pickleball Tournament, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 16 and 17 on the Frank Pate Park courts on Monument Avenue.
This community event aims to raise funds for women and children in Gulf County.
The two-day tournament welcomes players of all skill levels to participate in this rapidly growing sport while contributing to an important cause. All proceeds from the event will directly benefit the League’s ongoing initiatives supporting Gulf County families.
“This tournament represents an exciting new chapter for our organization,” said Amy Connolly, president of the Junior Service League of Port St. Joe. “We’re combining the community’s love of pickleball with our mission to serve Gulf County’s women and children.”
Men’s doubles begin at 8 a.m. ET, and women’s doubles at 2 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 16. Mixed doubles start at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17.
Registration is open until Friday, Nov. 1 through the tournament website at app.pickleballden.com/external-tournament/8616660 Registration includes a t-shirt and swag bag. The event will feature a hospitality tent and a 50/50 raffle.

Meet the Editor
David Adlerstein, The Apalachicola Times’ digital editor, started with the news outlet in January 2002 as a reporter.
Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.
In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
