Gulf County sends four to state track meet
Four track and field athletes from Gulf County – three from Port St. Joe and one from Wewahitchka, are headed to Hodges Stadium on the University of North Florida campus in Jacksonville May 15.
Lady Tiger Shark Tyshawn Shackelford threw the discus 29.67 meters to take first, and hurled the shot put 9.93 meters, to take second, at regionals May 7, also at Hodges Stadium.
Tiger Shark Daren Angelino leaped 13.07 meters to take third in the triple jump. Daniel Nguyen was second in the 110 hurdles with a season best 16.20 time, and third in the 400 hurdles with a 59.65 time, also a season best.
Gator Bailey Cox threw the discus 40.72 meters to finish second, and tossed the javelin 52.15 meters to finish first.

Meet the Editor
David Adlerstein, The Apalachicola Times’ digital editor, started with the news outlet in January 2002 as a reporter.
Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.
In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
