Kesley Colbert’s dedication will be missed

Kes, we hardly knew ye…. How can our 40 years of stories of Leon, David Mark and all their friends’ antics growing up in west Tennessee and tales of Miss Cathy, his “first wife,” and everyone in Port St. Joe be over?

In his usual self-deprecating style, Kes does not claim to be a writer yet the down-to-earth writing style of Hunker Down made us laugh, cry, and tugged at our heartstrings… that is writing at its finest. Every week, we enjoyed – and related to – the tales contained in those columns like they were stories from our own lives. They will be sorely missed and we all thank Kes for the time and dedication it took to write each and every one.

And maybe the fat lady can return and sing every once in a while.
