Tiger Sharks open postseason at home Friday vs. Aucilla
In the wake of a 27-6 win at home by Aucilla Christian over No. 6-seed Wewahitchka in the opening round of the Class 1 Rural-Region 2 high school football playoffs, the stage is set for a regional semi-final showdown this Friday night in Port St. Joe.
Taking to the road after last week’s victory, the No. 3-seed Aucilla Christian Warriors (9-1) will travel to the confines of Shark Field to square off against the No. 2-seed Tiger Sharks (6-4) in a postseason gridiron battle at 7:30 p.m.
The winner of the Port St. Joe-Aucilla Christian contest will face the victor of this week’s clash between the top-seeded Blountstown Tigers (6-3) and the No. 4-seed Sneads Pirates (6-4) in the Class 1 Rural-Region 2 championship on Nov. 24 at 7:30 p.m.
Utilizing a balanced offensive attack to tally 231 total yards in last week’s win, Aucilla equally split their yardage between their running and passing games.
Freshman quarterback Landon LaRosa led the team with 60 yards and one touchdown on 14 carries, while also throwing a touchdown to senior Eli Conrad on a 6-of-16 passing night.
Senior running back Tucker Wiles scored twice, racking up 43 yards on 10 carries.
Tickets for anyone wishing to attend this Friday night’s game will be $10 at the gate and no Gold cards will be accepted.
The FHSAA State Series pass will be the only pass accepted.
For those planning on traveling to the field via golf cart, the golf cart gate will also be taking tickets. As well, if you plan on bringing a golf cart, it is requested for it to be parked at least an hour prior to the game.
In addition to tickets being available the night of the game, presale tickets will also be sold on Thursday and Friday at the PSJHS office.

Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.
In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
