The Joe to host still life exhibit opening Friday

The Joe Center for the Arts’ newest exhibit, “Reimagining the Still Life” will open with an artists’ reception this Friday, April 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. ET.

The public is invited to attend and will have the opportunity to meet the artists. The Joe accepted 50 works for this exhibition, to be judged by Port St. Joe High School arts educator Julie Hodges. Awards totaling $600 will be presented for Best of Show, and first, second and third place. Voting for the coveted People’s Choice award will continue through the exhibition, with the winner announced on May 23.

An additional exhibit of 15 works from the recent Forgotten Coast Cultural Coalition Plein Air event will be on display. These paintings have been deemed “Artist’s Choice” and will remain up through May 30.

A display of collage art by American pop artist Michael Albert will be on display through May as well. Albert will be conducting two modern pop art collage classes on June 7.

The Joe, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to exhibit, educate, partner, and inspire through the arts, is at 201 Reid Ave. in Port St. Joe. It is open Wednesday through Friday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturdays until 3 p.m. Admission is free; donations are welcomed and are tax-deductible.
