Members prepare for upcoming state convention
As the 2024-25 fiscal year draws to a close, the GFWC Wewahitchka Woman’s Club is reflecting on another impactful and inspiring year of service, leadership, and community engagement.
Club members are gearing up to attend the GFWC Florida Annual Convention, an exciting event where clubs from across Florida are recognized for outstanding achievements. The convention will feature dynamic speakers, educational workshops focused on leadership and membership, and opportunities for networking and collaboration.
Locally, the Wewahitchka Woman’s Club will host its annual banquet in May to celebrate the dedication of its members. At this event, outstanding members will be recognized for their contributions throughout the year. The club will also present awards and distribute checks to nonprofit organizations that played an essential role in the success of this year’s Duck Derby fundraiser. Thanks to the generous support of the community, the event was both fun and a meaningful way to give back.
While the club will take a short break from regular meetings in June and July, the members will remain active behind the scenes. Planning for future community service projects will continue in preparation for a strong start in August.
Community members are invited to stop by the club’s booth at two upcoming local events – the Tupelo Festival on May 17 at Lake Alice and Wewahitchka’s Sesquicentennial Celebration on June 7. Come learn more about what the club does, how it supports our community, and how you can get involved.
On April 24, the club will observe GFWC Federation Day, a day of great significance as it marks the anniversary of the founding in 1890 of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, celebrating 135 years of volunteer service, civic involvement, and advocacy for communities both large and small. It’s a time to honor the powerful legacy of clubwomen and to reflect on the lasting impact GFWC has had — and continues to have — through the collective efforts of women working together for the greater good.
As the club prepares for another year of service and sisterhood, its mission remains the same: to enhance the lives of others through volunteer service. The GFWC Wewahitchka Woman’s Club welcomes all women who want to make a difference.
