St. Joe’s First United Methodist hosts community holy week
First United Methodist Church of Port St. Joe is welcoming the greater St. Joe community to join them for a special series of Holy Week services and lunches Monday through Friday, April 14 to 18, from noon to 1 p.m. ET each day.
Each gathering will feature a brief worship service led by guest pastors from area churches, followed by a complimentary lunch and time for fellowship.
“This is a time to come together, reflect, and prepare our hearts for Easter,” said Rev. Dave Barkalow, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Port St. Joe. “We are excited to welcome guest pastors from our community and share in this meaningful week with our neighbors.”
Barkalow will be the guest pastor Monday, April 14, with the Rev. Terry Tatum, Christ Methodist Church on Tuesday, April 15.
On Wednesday, April 16, Pastor Kyle Worthy, Long Avenue Baptist Church, will be the leader, and on Thursday, April 17, the Rev. Dr. Rian Adams, from St. James Episcopal Church, will be guest pastor.
On Friday, April 18, Pastor Chester Davis, Philadelphia Primitive Baptist Church, will lead worship.
The church extends this invitation as a gift to the community; no registration is needed, and all are welcome to attend.

Meet the Editor
David Adlerstein, The Apalachicola Times’ digital editor, started with the news outlet in January 2002 as a reporter.
Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.
In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
