Spring is sprouting on the Forgotten Coast. After a rather unusually cold winter, residents and visitors alike are looking to see the colorful riches the Panhandle is known for this time of year – budding flowers, leafing trees and productive gardens.
Enter the annual Port St. Joe Garden Club’s plant sale. On Saturday, April 12, the grounds of the Garden Club will be filled with all sorts of plants for sale – flowering plants, succulents, natives, herbs, veggies, trees, and shrubs. Plus, there’s an opportunity to browse a rummage sale and take part in the garden basket drawing.
This is a great opportunity for you to not only fill your garden but help give back to the local community. All profits from this sale are spread throughout the area for downtown beautification, scholarships and community donations, gardens in public areas, Port St. Joe Library seed library, restoration of an historic venue and many more local causes.
The sale is at 216 Eighth Street and open (rain or shine) beginning at 8 a.m. ET It will wrap-up at 1 p.m., or earlier if sold out. So come early and enjoy a sweet and a cup of coffee at our bake sale as you stroll the grounds for the perfect plants for your perfect garden.
Meet the Editor
David Adlerstein, The Apalachicola Times’ digital editor, started with the news outlet in January 2002 as a reporter.
Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.
In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
