Members prepare for annual convention in Orlando

Excitement is in the air as members of the GFWC Wewahitchka Woman’s Club prepare to attend the highly anticipated GFWC Florida Annual Convention, taking place next month in Orlando. This event is an incredible opportunity for clubwomen across the state to come together, share ideas, celebrate accomplishments, and gain valuable insights into leadership, membership growth, and community service.

The convention promises engaging workshops and presentations designed to educate and inspire members. Attendees have the chance to learn more about GFWC initiatives, best practices for club leadership, and strategies to enhance community outreach. With a focus on building strong clubs and empowering members, the convention will provide valuable tools for continued success.

One of the most exciting moments will be the announcement of the GFWC Florida Awards for outstanding clubs in 2024, which recognize the dedication and hard work of members who have made a meaningful impact in their communities. The Wewahitchka Woman’s Club is eager to celebrate the accomplishments of all Florida clubs and cheer on those receiving well-deserved recognition.

This year’s convention features an outstanding lineup of guest speakers whose stories will inspire and uplift.

At the Saturday luncheon is James Jordan, a Navy veteran who served for nine years on submarines, and who has dedicated his time to the Flight to Honor program, where he serves as both a Guardian and Bus Captain. His commitment to honoring veterans through these missions is sure to be a moving and memorable experience.

The Sunday Luncheon features Ginny Whitten, the manager and founding member of Loft 181, where she plays a crucial role in supporting teenage girls in foster care and those rescued from human trafficking. Her passion for creating a welcoming and uplifting environment will leave a lasting impression on all in attendance.

At the Saturday Banquet will be Rob Scheer, founder of Comfort Cases, whose journey from foster care to advocacy is nothing short of extraordinary. After experiencing the foster care system firsthand, he turned his personal hardships into a mission to provide dignity and support for children in foster care.

Beyond the workshops and presentations, the convention is a wonderful time for members to reconnect with old friends and make new ones. The bonds formed at these events strengthen the GFWC sisterhood and reinforce the shared mission of making a difference in communities across Florida and beyond.

The GFWC Wewahitchka Woman’s Club is thrilled to be part of this incredible event, and we look forward to a weekend filled with learning, inspiration, and celebration.
