Dale Cox to speak on Indians of Wewahitchka
On Thursday, Feb. 20, Dale Cox, an award-winning author and historian, will present a program on American Indians who lived in Wewa, Apalachicola and the surrounding areas.
The entire community is invited to the event, which is sponsored by the Wewahitchka Historical Society, Inc. It will be held in the First United Methodist Church, which is directly across the street from the historic Presbyterian Church on FL-71 in downtown Wewahitchka.
A time of fellowship and refreshments will begin at 5:30 p.m. CT. The program will start at 6 p.m.
Cox grew up near Two Egg in a small community of Yuchi Creek Indians and is the expert on the American Indian history of the area. He holds degrees in history and anthropology. His wife Rachael has a masters of business administration and produces features for Two Egg TV.
Cox’s best-selling books on Jackson County and Two Egg will be available for purchase ($20 for larger books; $10 for smaller ones).

Meet the Editor
David Adlerstein, The Apalachicola Times’ digital editor, started with the news outlet in January 2002 as a reporter.
Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.
In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
