Wewa Films founder to speak at FSU-PC

Kevin Elliott, the founder of Wewa Films and the Redfish Film Festival in Panama City, will be the guest of Florida State University Panama City professor Brian Baber for a Lunch & Learn presentation on Wednesday, Feb. 12.

Baber will speak with Elliott from noon to 1:30 p.m. CT in the Holley Academic Center’s St. Joe Community Foundation Lecture Hall, 4750 Collegiate Drive, Panama City. There is no cost for admission, and a light lunch will be provided. The public is invited. Elliott founded the Redfish Film Festival, a celebration of documentaries held in venues across downtown Panama City. His Wewa Films business produces corporate storytelling videos, web series and commercials. He is also senior marketing manager for Applied Research Associates, taught as an adjunct professor at FSU PC, and owns a property management company.

A 2013 graduate of the FSU PC master’s degree program in corporate and public communication, Elliott was named a Notable Nole in 2020. An award-winning video writer, producer, and public speaker, his accolades include American Advertising, Telly, and Hermes Creative awards. His writing has featured in publications including The Washington Post, Business Energy, Desktop Documentaries and The Military Engineer.



Baber is the entrepreneur in residence at FSU PC’s Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship, specializing in real estate and construction.

Meet the Editor

David Adlerstein, The Apalachicola Times’ digital editor, started with the news outlet in January 2002 as a reporter.

Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.

In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
