The Bikes for Boys & Girls program, an annual project of the R.A. Driesbach, Sr. Lodge #77 Knights of Pythias, distributed 132 bicycles to deserving Gulf County children between Saturday, Dec. 21 and Christmas Day.

Bicycles were distributed on the morning of Dec. 21 in Port St. Joe at the City Commons next to City Hall, and in the afternoon in Wewahitchka at Lake Alice Park.

The size of the bikes ranged from 10-inch tricycles to 24-inch mountain bikes.

“Smiles were contagious. The boys and girls and the parents were all happy to receive the bikes,” said Kenneth Monette, the lodge’s chancellor commander. “The weather and the turnout of kids and parents were great.”

On behalf of the members of R.A. Driesbach, Sr. Lodge #77 Knights of Pythias, Monette said “we wish to thank each individual, business, and organization for your kindness, encouragement, and generous donations. Your continued support is making a difference in the lives of families in Port St. Joe, Wewahitchka, and surrounding areas.”
