The annual Christmas on the Coast Parade, hosted by the City of Port St. Joe- City Hall and the Gulf County Chamber of Commerce, spread holiday cheer for the area, once again, on Saturday, Dec. 14.
The Gulf County community came together and built an assortment of festive floats for this year’s contest. The float competition was split into four categories – faith based, business, family and friends, and school or non-profit organization. Here are the winners for the 2024 float contest.
2024 Christmas Parade Winners:
School & Non-Profit: 1st Place – R.A. Driesbach, Sr., Lodge #77 Knights 2nd Place – Gulf ARC 3rd Place – Forgotten Coast Sea Turtle Center
Faith Based: 1st Place – Long Avenue Baptist Church 2nd Place- Hope Family Worship 3rd Place- First Methodist Church
Family & Friends: 1st Place – Swivel Sisters 2nd Place – Gary & Sue Gibbs 3rd Place – Ladies Dinner Crew
Business Category: 1st Place – Lookout Lounge 2nd Place – Point South Marina 3rd Place – Bayou Boat Rentals
Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.
In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
