Tiger Sharks shut out Jefferson County

The Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks lifted their record to 5-4 Friday night at home, as they breezed past the Jefferson County Tigers 45-0.

They now have a huge game at home Thursday, Nov. 7, as they host the 6-3 Blountstown Tigers to close out the regular season.

Junior Eli Harris and senior Donnell Hills each scored a pair of rushing touchdowns, while senior Daren Angelino and senior Javan Hampton each caught touchdown passes.



Sophomore Josiah Beach nailed all six of his extra point tries, plays a field goal, for nine points on the night.

Junior quarterback Jacob Hensley, threw for 101 yards, completing 3 of 4 passes, two for touchdowns.

The team chewed up 279 yards on the ground on 27 carries, led by Hills’ 89 yards on three carries, and Harris’ 81 yards on nine carries. Senior Aydan Davis rushed six times for 48 yards, and Hensley six times for 47 yards. Senior Colton Johnson ran three times for 14 yards.

Angelino caught two passes for 65 yards, and Hampton one pass for 46 yards.

Junior Asher Peacock led the defense with 11 tackles, eight of them solos, and junior Jacob Marshall had eight, two of them solos. Marshall and junior Colt Patterson each posted a sack.

Johnson and Marshall each recovered fumbles, while junior Eli Godwin had two interceptions for 65 yards, and senior J.D. Becton one.

David Adlerstein, The Apalachicola Times’ digital editor, started with the news outlet in January 2002 as a reporter.

Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.

In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
