Forgotten Coast Fishing Report

Offshore, Capt. Pete Barwick of Bounty Bay PSJ charters has been tearing up the red snapper. He had another good week by putting several limits in the cooler. One of our local fishermen, Spencer Wheeless, took a group 25 miles offshore and caught a nice 7-pound triggerfish and a limit of amberjacks.

Inshore, Capt. Andy Bolger of Chum Em Up Charters reports the pompano bite is heating up in the early morning on fish bites and sand fleas. Some really nice redfish are being caught in the surf on chunks of cut bait and shrimp. Shark fishing has picked up as well with lemons and sandbar sharks feeding heavy.

Catfish are doing well In the deeper holes on shrimp. David Brown and Charles Borders of Wewa had a good day last week with several 3-to-5 pounders caught. The rivers are starting to fall and cool so fishing is picking up.

Don’t forget flounder season closed last week and reopens Dec. 1. Stop in and see us for the latest fishing reports and your hunting and fishing needs. Until next week, tight lines and don’t forget those lifejackets.
