For a soggy weekend, with bits of drizzle in the air, the sixth annual Forgotten Music Fest last weekend in George Core Park turned into an exciting jam.
Attendance was modest on Saturday and Sunday, but there was a steady stream of attendees to enjoy the likes of John Nemeth, Shane Dwight, Eden Brent, The Lauren Spring Band, The Cinelli Brothers, the Bill Rigsby Band, Lil Skinny and Jkpopstar.
This isn’t the last of October’s music offerings in Gulf County, as the The Blast on the Bay Songwriters Festival is slated for Oct. 17 through 20 in Port St. Joe and around Gulf County.
Its lineup will include, in alphabetical order, Sherrie Austin, Aaron Barker, Brian Bowen, Tim Buppert, Jason Byrd, Allison Clarke, Steve Dean, Emma Gibson, Dana Hunt-Black, Brooks Huntley, Brett Jones, Brett Kelly, Ronnie Kimball, Earl Bud Lee, Donny Lowery, Seth Michael, Jimmy Miller, Grace Morrison, Wil Nance, Wood Newton, Jean Nolan, Will Rambeaux, Jesse Rice, Alex Rohan, Jerry Salley, Pete Sallis, Lauren Spring, Victoria Venier, Ron Wallace, Matt Warren, Brian White, Bill Worrell and Emma Zinck.
Unfortunately, the rain did force the cancellation of last weekend’s Wewa Fall Festival at Lake Alice Park in Wewahitchka.
Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.
In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
