Port St. Joe downs Destin 21-12
Port St. Joe evened its record at 2-2 Friday night, securing a 21-12 win on the home field of the Destin Sharks.
The Tiger Sharks amassed 169 yards on the ground on 24 carries, led by junior Eli Harris, who chewed up 78 yards on 12 carries. Senior Daren Angelino had 29 yards on three carries, while junior Jacob Hensley gained 24 yards on three carries.
Senior Ardarien Bryant had 22 yards on five carries and sophomore Donnell Hills had one carry for 16 yards.
Hensley completed 6-of-15 passes for 77 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
Senior Aydan Davis caught two passes for 20 yards and a touchdown. Senior Jayan Hampton caught two passes for 33 yards.
Harris caught a 15-yard pass, and junior Blake Childress a 9-yard pass.
Junior Asher Peacock and Bryant led the defense, each with 11 tackles. Junior Jacob Marshall added seven, and Angelino six. Senior Colton Johnson and Gregory Dean each had a sack.
Juniors True Benedict and Colt Patterson, senior J.D. Becton and Hills each recovered a fumble.
Bryant and Harris each had a rushing touchdown, and Davis caught a pass for a score. Sophomore Josiah Beach nailed all three of his extra point attempts.
Port St. Joe travels to Bozeman Friday night.

David Adlerstein, The Apalachicola Times’ digital editor, started with the news outlet in January 2002 as a reporter.
Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.
In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
