Wear gold in September for cancer awareness
In honor of National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the GFWC Wewahitchka Woman’s Club proudly supports St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, an affiliate of GFWC. St. Jude’s has been a beacon of hope for children battling cancer, and GFWC clubs across the country actively fundraise and donate to ensure families never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing, or food.
I had the heartwarming experience of touring the St. Jude facility along with hundreds of other GFWC clubwomen. Seeing the dedication of the doctors, nurses, and staff firsthand was inspiring. Their unwavering commitment to healing children and advancing research is remarkable.
This September let’s join together in raising awareness for childhood cancer. Gold is the color that symbolizes childhood cancer awareness. We encourage the community to wear gold throughout September to show support. This small but powerful gesture can start conversations and spread awareness. It is time to shine a light on the courageous children battling cancer and the need for ongoing support in our community. Childhood cancer affects thousands of families each year, and as members of the GFWC Wewahitchka Woman’s Club, we are dedicated to making a difference through our Health and Wellness Community Service Program.
