Branford downs Wewa 28-14

A pair of Branford touchdowns in the fourth quarter broke open a 14-14 tie Friday night in Wewahitchka, as the Gators fell 28-14 to the Buccaneers.

Branford and Wewa each had touchdowns in the first quarter, but the Gators fell short on their conversion try and trailed 7-6 going into the second quarter.

The Gators went ahead 14-7 at the half, after they were good on both the score and the two-point conversion in the second stanza.



With about eight minutes left in the third, Branford scored to tie it at 14-all going into the fourth quarter.

Two unanswered touchdowns in the final quarter accounted for the win as Branford knotted its record at 1-1.

Wewa, still looking for its first win of the season, plays host Friday night to the Vernon Yellowjackets, which is also 0-2.

Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.

In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
