Wakulla downs Tiger Sharks 41-14

It was a tough outing Friday night in Wakulla County Friday night for the Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks, as they fell 41-14 to the Class 3A Wakulla War Eagles.

Wakulla ran up a 20-0 margin after the first quarter, and ended the first half up 34-0.

A touchdown in the third quarter brought it to 41-0, before Port St. Joe scored twice in the fourth quarter, on scores by juniors Eli Harris and Jacob Hensley. Sophomore Josiah Beach scored a two-point conversion.



Senior Chance Gainer ran 10 times for 54 yards, while Hensley rushed six times for 29 yards, and senior Aydan Davis four times for 25 yards.

Senior Daren Angelino ran once for 13 yards, while junior Asher Peacock ran twice for nine yards, senior Colton Johnson once for nine yards, senior Donnell Hills twice for seven yards, and junior Corban Butts and Harris each once for five yards.

Johnson caught one pass for 17 yards, Harris twice for 13 yards and Angelino twice for four yards.

The team had a total of 156 yards on the ground, and 34 in the air.

Wakulla junior Owen Klees completed 16-of-20 passes for six touchdowns, and 323 yards.

On the ground, four War Eagle runners ran eight times for 70 yards.

David Adlerstein, The Apalachicola Times’ digital editor, started with the news outlet in January 2002 as a reporter.

Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.

In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
