A new arrival

On Saturday at about 11 a.m., with the help of a tugboat, the newly built Long Island Ferry pulled up to Eastern Shipbuilding Group’s shipyard in Port St. Joe from the Allanton Shipyard in Panama City. Completion of construction and outfitting of ESH Hull 228 is expected to take 14 months, and then will be delivered to Long Island. The ferry joins a 350-foot Hornbeck ship now under construction, with plans for an additional Hornbeck ship to arrive next month. Eastern is recruiting new employees and interested persons can apply online at www.easternshipbuilding.com/careers.
