Friday reception opens art market at The Joe
The fifth annual Members’ Art Market opens this Friday, August 2 at The Joe Center for the Arts with a meet-the-artist reception from 6 to 8 p.m. ET.
The public is invited to come and celebrate the achievements of 29 mostly local artists, many of whom have been creating in their chosen mediums for years. Available for purchase at the art market, which runs through Sept. 20, will be hundreds of select works including watercolor, acrylic, and oil painting in all sizes, subjects, and styles as well as ink, pastel, and pencil drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, wood, fibers, jewelry, and metalsmithing.
The Joe is located at 201 Reid Ave with hours Wednesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free. The Joe is a non-profit (501)c(3) volunteer-run organization which receives tax-deductible donations that help it fulfill its mission to exhibit, educate, inspire, and partner through the arts. Meet the Editor
David Adlerstein, The Apalachicola Times’ digital editor, started with the news outlet in January 2002 as a reporter.
Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.
In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
