Mexico Beach kingfish tourney this weekend

The 28th annual Mexico Beach Artificial Reef Association Kingfish Tournament is this weekend, beginning with a Captain’s Party Friday evening, July 26, and tournament and weigh-in all day Saturday, July 2 at the Mexico Beach public boat ramp.

Last year 130 boats fished in the tournament and over 800 people enjoyed the party with a first-time tournament angler winning the new recreational division. This year’s format is the same: Boats under 26 feet with no professional anglers can fish the Recreational Division, and boats over 26 fish or with a professional angler on board, regardless of boat size, must fish the Open Division. This tournament is the largest fundraising event for MBARA, which builds and deploys artificial reefs off the coast of Mexico Beach.

Registration is $300. For more info, email mexicobeachreefs@gmail.com
