Thru the Lens photography exhibition opens Friday
An opening reception of Thru the Lens, The Joe Center for the Arts’ newest photography exhibition, will be held Friday, Sept. 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. EDT.
This juried photography exhibition runs through Oct. 20 and presents amazing images of human interest, landscapes, seascapes, sunsets and the natural world. All pieces will be available for purchase.
Awards will be presented by juror Kathryn Stivers of Tallahassee at the Sept. 22 event. An award winning architect, fine art photographer and fused glass artist, Stivers captures the beauty of the Florida Panhandle. While she has trained at university in the fields of fine art photography, printmaking, and architecture, photography remains her first love and passion.
The Joe is located at 201 Reid Ave in downtown Port St Joe. Admission is free. Hours of operation are Wednesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. EDT and Saturday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. EDT. The Joe Center for the Arts is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to exhibit, educate, partner and inspire through the arts.
Meet the Editor
David Adlerstein, The Apalachicola Times’ digital editor, started with the news outlet in January 2002 as a reporter.
Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.
In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
