Former Tiger Shark wins Conference of the South defensive player of the week
Port St. Joe alum and current Huntingdon Collegedefender Zoe Gerlach was named the Conference of the South defensive player of the week on Sept. 15.
Gerlach, who graduated from Port St. Joe High School in 2021, helped lift the Huntingdon Hawks with two wins last week. She led the defense and did not allow a shot on goal in wins against MUW and Birmingham-Southern.
The former Tiger Shark has started in all four of the Hawk’s games. In their last two games.

David Adlerstein, The Apalachicola Times’ digital editor, started with the news outlet in January 2002 as a reporter.
Prior to then, David Adlerstein began as a newspaperman with a small Boston weekly, after graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He later edited the weekly Bellville Times, and as business reporter for the daily Marion Star, both not far from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.
In 1995, he moved to South Florida, and worked as a business reporter and editor of Medical Business newspaper. In Jan. 2002, he began with the Apalachicola Times, first as reporter and later as editor, and in Oct. 2020, also began editing the Port St. Joe Star.
