Freshwater fishing tournament raises money for children’s advocacy center

On Saturday, Eastern Shipbuilding Group held its 2023 Freshwater Classic on the Apalachicola River.

The competition included a 600 gallon live fish display tank, local sponsors, a breakfast and lunch food service and a chance to win prizes in the charity raffle.

Each year, the event draws hundreds of employees, vendors and local sponsors to raise funds for this initiative.

“Special thanks and recognitions go out to our local Port St Joe sponsors, including Duren’s Piggly Wiggly, Port St. Joe Hardware and St Joe Rent-All,” said Eastern Shipbuilding Group in a press release. “Their generosity greatly impacted the success of this 21st annual event.”

This year’s tournament benefited the Gulf Coast Children’s Advocacy Center in Panama City.
