Junior Service League egg hunt sees egg-cellent crowd

The Easter Bunny teamed with the Junior Service League of Port St. Joe for plenty of fun at Centennial Park in Port St. Joe last Saturday.

The Bunny was there to meet and greet, as well as Junior Service League members of the, who put on one of their largest annual Easter egg hunts, despite the threat of rainy weather.

“We were a little nervous that no one would come with the rain,” said Amy Connelly, a JSL member who helped to plan the event. “But luckily the weather held out, and I think we had about 150 kids show up.”

The egg hunt, which is free to children from around the community ages 1 to 11, takes months of planning to coordinate every year, Connelly said.

“It’s so funny that we spend weeks stuffing these eggs — and I think there were more than 800 of them — and then they’re all gone in like two minutes,” she laughed.

The event also featured games, races, a bounce house and face painting.
