Tiger Sharks improve record to 7-1

Fisher Vandertulip allowed only three hits and a single run during his 5.1 innings pitched to lead Port St. Joe to a 4-1 win over Wakulla Christian last Friday, March 17, helping the Tiger Sharks improve their record to 7-1.

Vandertulip also smashed a bases-empty home run to help his cause.

St. Joe immediately put pressure on the Saints by taking a 1-0 first inning lead, adding two more in the fifth before Wakulla scored its only run in the sixth, which the Sharks answered with a run of their own in the top of the seventh and final inning.

Scheduled for the weekend, both teams agreed to play the game on Friday due to concerns about the possible stormy weather moving through the area on Saturday.

After the Saints scored their run in the sixth, Cullen Partie took the mound for the final two outs of the inning before Hunter Hicks came in to get the final three outs and earn the save.

Wills Norton, Jentzen Odom, Baylor Partie, and Jabara Pearson led the Shark hitting attack with two hits each, while Odom drove in two runs and Pearson scored a run.

CJ Conway, Max Godwin, Peyton Knox, and Jack Trochessett also got hits for St. Joe. Godwin stole a base and drove in a run, while Trochessett swiped two bases and scored a run.

Hicks and Cullen Partie both added stolen bases to the St. Joe thefts, and Partie also scored a run.
