Carrabelle postpones ‘Culture Crawl’ Saturday

Due to the threat of inclement weather, the Carrabelle History Museum is rescheduling the 2023 Carrabelle Culture Crawl to Saturday, Feb. 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Many of the event partners are already re-confirmed including musicians Frank Lindamood, Cody Barber, Kevin Andrew & the Rockulla Performers (at a new venue), and Lewis Christie. A few of the Forgotten Coast Cruisers are expected to be cruising into Carrabelle for the new date.  Fishy Fashion characters are being reeled in. And of course, the Scavenger Hunt will be available We anticipate confirming additional partners, exhibitors and demonstrators over the next few days.

Blues Authority concert

The Friends of the Gulf County Library at PSJ invite you to join them on Feb.11 for music, eats, and fun. This fundraiser will be held at the Haughty Heron from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. 

The Apalachicola Blues Authority, featuring Bernard Simmons, will play music inspired by the blues and influenced by Motown and Rock and Roll. 

This band has something for everyone. There will be a food truck on site and plenty of cold beverages for all ages. All donations will go to the Friends to continue their support of the Port St. Joe library.



 Apalachicola Farmers Market Saturday

The Apalachicola Farmers Market is this Saturday, Feb. 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mill Pond Pavilion at the end of Market Street. The market is every second and fourth Saturday of the month.

Lovebirds and Shorebirds

Shorebird season is starting soon, so stop by The Forgotten Coast Sea Turtle Center on Feb. 11 and learn more about shorebirds and how together we can raise public awareness and improve their habitats. Refreshments will be available.

Library hosts musical performances Friday

The Apalachicola Margaret Key Public Library’s Winter Music Series continues Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10 with a performance by Shaken and Stirred, a duo of Randy Mims and Carol Harris, plus the Ukulilies, a group of local ukulele players.

Learn about Black landscape painters from the ‘50s and ‘60s

Spend Saturday morning at The Joe Center for the Arts learning about the African American landscape painters from the ‘50s and ‘60s who sold their paintings along Florida highways and byways. Works from some of the original Highwaymen will include Al Black, Alfred Hair, and son Kelvin Hair, Issac H. Knight, R.L. Lewis, Jr., and his son R.L. Lewis III will be on display.

There will be a breakfast reception starting at 9:30 a.m. EST and an hour-long documentary film titled “The Highwaymen — Florida’s Outsider Artists” will be shown. Don’t miss it as the paintings will only be on display until 1:00 p.m. The Joe Center for the Arts is located at 201 Reid Avenue in Port St. Joe  www.thejoecenter.org
